3 Easy Peasy Ways to REFRESH your Mind & Body

january refresh

January, as you know, is all about REFRESH. This week isn’t so much a challenge as it is just beginning to take notice of what you’re putting into your body. This can be in the form of food, skincare, or just self-care. Let’s break it down by category.

How much of what you’re eating comes from a package? Start to notice your fresh produce to frozen package ratio as you peruse the grocery aisle. Maybe think about making that hummus or guacamole at home instead of buying the pre-made package. One easy change to implement if you aren’t already doing so is to just make the switch to organic eggs and milk. Easy Peasy.

One of my goals this year is to learn how to read a label for myself. Start to really hone in on the ingredients. This can be with deodorant, shampoos, soaps, lotions, nail polish, and on. One easy change to implement is to swap out store bought lotion with grape seed oil. Sounds weird huh? It’s super hydrating and an anti-inflammatory. Who knew?! (apparently my mother)You can purchase this in a bottle at Whole Foods and a little goes a long way!

You may think of only physical things that we put into our bodies but our thoughts drastically correlate to our mental health which can take on a physical role in the body. What do I mean? Start by eliminating negative thoughts. Begin to let the little things go and release that stress. Life is all about how we choose to view it. If you are stressed to the max day in and day out, cortisol begins to build in the body and over time, can take shape in the form of disease, migraines, aging and on. One easy change to implement is yoga. Yoga allows you to focus on the breath and relax the mind; thus lowering our stress hormone, cortisol! No time? Try meditating for 3-5 minutes per day. It’s free, easy and requires very little time.
