HER STORY ⟡ Dr. Carolina Sueldo

In honor of National Infertility Awareness Week, we are introducing you to Dr. Carolina Sueldo of Ceibo Fertility Center!

Tell us about you and your background!
Hi everyone, I'm Dr Sueldo! I am a double board certified Fertility Specialist, currently practicing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I grew up in Central California and moved to my parents' home country of Argentina at the age of 15! There, I completed both high school and medical school. Humble brag... I was among the top students in my class, and was awarded an academic scholarship for this. I then returned to the U.S.A. to complete my training in Obstetrics & Gynecology (ObGyn) at UCSF-Fresno. There, I was voted "Best Resident" by my peers across all residency programs at the institution... Whoa, what an honor!

I then went on to do my infertility fellowship at the University of Connecticut (fun fact: did you know that year there were only 38 spots open in the whole country?!?!)  After my training, I joined a large practice in South Florida, where I practiced from 2015-2018 and during that time became double board certified in both ObGyn and REI (Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility).

In 2018, I moved to Central California and worked with the Women's Specialty and Fertility Center. There, I became the local media women's health expert and was invited to speak on several occasions, in addition to giving talks for my local medical community. I have a strong online presence, and you can find me on IG, FB, YT, and at least 20 different podcast interviews. I have been a speaker at National meetings, as well as International speaking invitations throughout Latin America (such as Argentina, Columbia, Mexico, and most recently the Dominican Republic).

I have held several positions within the Women’s Health Community: ACOG District IX Section 3 Vice-Chair and Chair, Secretary for the Florida Society of Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility, active member within the ASRM community, and this past fall I was invited to join the Executive Board for ALMER (the Latin American Reproductive Medicine Association). Above all this, I am passionate about empowering women through education about their reproductive health!

Tell us about your business & why you started it?
Ceibo Fertility Center opened its doors on September 25th, 2023. Ceibo Fertility was born from the deep-rooted belief that personalized care is essential in fertility treatment. The name "Ceibo" holds a very special place. The Ceibo flower (Erythrina cristagalli) is the national flower of Argentina, and it symbolizes unity, strength, and resilience. At Ceibo Fertility Center, we believe in the power of a multidisciplinary approach to Fertility, by combining the best of modern medical expertise with a whole-person approach that optimizes your family building journey. Our mission is to provide comprehensive, compassionate, and effective fertility solutions.

What do you love about being a business owner?
I love that I can tailor my care to each individual patient's needs. I love that I can practice medicine the way I want to, and seeing my dream come to life has been just wild!

What type of impact do you hope to have on those you meet and/or who receive your services?
My hope is that my patients will leave empowered on their family building journey, through education and the knowledge that they have someone who will guide and support them every step of the way. My long-term dream is to change education in America from "sex education" to "reproductive health education" so that both men and women will better understand their bodies, ultimately leading to a change in how we approach family-building in our country.

What advice would you give to yourself from 5 years ago? OR your past self just starting your business?
"Bet on yourself." In medical training, you are taught a certain way of doing things when it comes to patient care. But we really aren't taught "the business of medicine" and most doctors today are discouraged from starting their own practices given the influence of big hospitals, corporations, and private equity in the medical industry. I was so scared to go out on my own, but in hindsight, we have all the tools we need to start. You give your patients your best, you do it afraid, and the rest you figure out along the way. At the end of the day, you are creating something beautiful for yourself and your patients. The journey is hard, but so worth it.

What does BEAUTY mean to you?
To me, Beauty radiates from within. There are so many external definitions of what beauty is, and yet I find myself drawn to those people who have beautiful souls. They are warm, gentle, accepting, and radiate this glow about them that is impossible not to be attracted to. A big part of this comes from replenishing themselves first, so they have of themselves to give to others.

Who or what inspires you?
I am blessed to be inspired by so many incredible people around me. My first inspirations were my parents - both physicians, both absolutely passionate about their fields. Coming up through training I was blessed with a few very key mentors who encouraged me during the most trying of times. But above all, my patients inspire me. Their strength and resilience during their struggle with infertility, is something I am in awe of and can only aspire to. They are what keep me motivated, and keep me going. I am better because of them.

What would you like our Beauty Boost members to know?
