Today, we are meeting Jamie Sommerfeld of DivaDance
Tell us about you!
I’m Jamie! I’m a mom to a 13-year-old dance loving daughter and an energetic Border Collie named Sky who keeps life interesting. I love getting out of the house and doing fun things, whether that’s traveling to new places, exploring something spontaneous, or just soaking up a little Disney magic (I’m a huge fan!). I’ve been chasing ways to bring more joy and passion into my life, and I love creating experiences that let others do the same; laugh, connect, and just have fun.
I am also a brand ambassador for The Beauty Boost Columbus for 2026!
Why I started:
I started DivaDance in Columbus because I wanted a space where women could show up, shake it out, and feel amazing. No pressure, no judgment, just pure fun. Dance has always been my escape, and I wanted to share that with other women who need that same kind of joy in their lives.
What I love about being a business owner:
I love being a business owner because I get to create a space that actually matters, where people feel confident, have fun, and connect. I love the freedom to try new things, see the impact of my work, and grow in ways I never expected.
What type of impact do you hope to have on those you meet and/or who purchase your products?
I want people to feel seen the second they walk in. I hope they leave feeling lighter, stronger, and like, “Wow… I really can do this.” If they walk out with new friends or a little extra pep in their step, then I’ve done my job.
Who or what inspires you?
The people who walk through our doors inspire me every single day. They’re juggling real life; work, kids, stress and still show up for themselves.
What is your favorite piece of advice you've ever received or favorite quote?
If I waited to feel fully ready, DivaDance Columbus wouldn’t exist. Sometimes you just have to leap and trust that you’ll learn the rest as you go.
What does BEAUTY mean to you?
Beauty, to me, is confidence mixed with kindness. It’s energy, not appearance.
What advice would you give your past self just starting your business?
Relax, you don’t have to have everything perfect to make a big impact. Trust your instincts, they’re usually right, and don’t be afraid to be vulnerable. Network more, you can learn so much from others who know exactly where you're coming from.
What would you like our Beauty Boost members to know?
If you have a dream, whether it’s starting a business, hitting a personal goal, or just trying something new, you can do it. Trust yourself and don’t be afraid to make mistakes along the way. Showing up for yourself is so rewarding.
Where our community can find you?
You can usually find me cheering on my daughter at her dance competitions, grabbing a drink (or two) with friends, dancing the stress away at my studio (whether I’m teaching or taking a class), or planning my next travel adventure (always trying to squeeze in a Disney trip).
