Why I started:
Hello, my name is Chelsea Staud and I am the owner and Photographer at Gemini Boudoir | Gemini Haus Studios. I started my boudoir career in 2019 when I was renting apartments downtown Cincinnati, and a boudoir photographer moved in. I used to photograph senior portraits and weddings when I was fresh out of High School in Florida, but always wanted to niche down and work specifically with women.
A decade later when I met the new tenant, I felt inspired to pick my camera back up and work with the everyday woman, helping them see themselves how I see themselves- from a sensual lens. After my first session I knew this is what I wanted to do, and charged everything to the credit card and hit the ground running.
Now 6 years later I have worked with over 400+ women from Cincinnati and beyond, and just celebrated opening my new studio located downtown.
I rarely ever feel like I'm working, as I truly love my job. Watching women blossom throughout a session is so beautiful to witness, and it's always the biggest compliment to my work and my business when clients book sessions again, and again.
What I love about being a business owner:
The simple things such as making my own schedule, having creative freedom with my work, and being my own boss. I am able to connect with so many women all the while having a goodish work and life balance, for being the only one who wears all the hats at Gemini Boudoir | Gemini Haus Studios.
What type of impact do you hope to have on those you meet or who experience your offerings?
One main topic that is mentioned in almost all of my reviews and client feedback forms is how comfortable I made them feel. That is truly a top priority during such an intimate, vulnerable photo session.
I also hope clients simply feel sexy, empowered, and willing to now appreciate themselves a little more after seeing themselves the way I do, and through my lens.
Many clients come back for round two, three, sometimes four. It can be addicting to finally love seeing yourself in a new light and capturing that moment again and again.
Who or what inspires you?
I would have to say my clients. A boudoir session for most clients is not easy to book. There are a lot of nerves with booking a session and takes that "I'm going to do this for ME" attitude sometimes. And sometimes, I don't ever feel like I myself could book a session... but here I am photographing women every week who did put themselves first, and their insecurities last and trusted the process with me.
What does BEAUTY mean to you?
Beauty to me is when my clients finally give in to the process and embrace themselves with a new level of confidence that they didn't have before coming to the studio. It's when they finally feel seen, heard, and appreciated.
What would you like our Beauty Boost members to know?
