How to Actually Take a Weekend Off (And Come Back Refreshed)

Hey Gal! Happy Monday!

I started “NO PLANS WEEKENDS” awhile back and I love them.

Here's the truth: rest doesn't just happen—it has to be created. The good news? You don't need to escape to Bali or block off an entire week. You can actually come back Monday refreshed with just two intentional days.

1. Set a Friday Night Boundary

Before the weekend even starts, give yourself a cut-off. Shut the laptop, turn off work notifications, and do something that signals, “I'm off.” It could be a fun dinner, a walk at sunset, or even a glass of wine and a face mask—just choose a ritual that feels like a reset.

2. Plan ONE Anchor Activity

Instead of overbooking every hour, pick one meaningful thing that feels restorative/fun. A yoga class, a hike, brunch with a friend, or even a nap you schedule in like it's an appointment. The power is in having one intentional choice—not twelve.

3. Protect White Space

It's hard BUT….don't fill your calendar just because you're “free.” This is the downtime your nervous system craves—the same reason our weekend retreats always include open blocks to chill, wander, or journal.

4. Close the Loop Sunday Night

Instead of rolling into Monday in a panic, spend 30 minutes Sunday eve prepping for the week—lay out your workout clothes, jot down your 3 priorities, or tidy up one space. This isn't “working,” it's clearing the mental clutter so you can stay in the refresh zone.

The takeaway: A weekend off doesn't mean doing nothing. It means choosing with intention, leaving space to breathe, and treating your two days like a mini retreat.
