HER STORY ⟡ Dr. Erin Riley

Today, we are meeting Dr. Erin Riley of Temple Chiropractic!

Tell us about you and your business!

Temple Chiropractic is a  family-centered, nervous system focused wellness space, working to help all people heal and function at their best.

Why you started - was there a specific moment or experience that sparked your entrepreneurial journey? :

When I opened my doors at Temple, I was 27 weeks pregnant. It was a dream I've had for almost a decade, but was ultimately birthed at a moment in my life when the universe asked me to finally expand out of my comfort zone, "now or never". It was a freaking wild ride, and one of life's biggest blessings.

What impact do you hope to make through your business?

A BIG ONE - My purpose is to make a generational impact in the lives of the families in our community. My desire is to flip the modern "healthcare" (sick-care) system on its head and empower individuals to take control of their health with a preventative, proactive, drug-free approach. I want kids to grow up healthy, free from labels and diagnoses. And I want women to feel supported (physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually) and heard. I believe these things will create better, stronger, healthier, and more resilient future generations.

Who or what inspires you?

Other women who are just truly, unapologetically, doing the damn thing.

What is your favorite piece of advice you've ever received (or favorite quote)?

We never know how far reaching something we may think, say or do today will affect the lives of millions tomorrow. - BJ Palmer

How do you handle self-doubt and maintain confidence in your entrepreneurial journey?

Filtering out nay-sayers and surrounding myself with people who believe and support my mission.

How do you continue to learn and grow as a business owner?

I listen to a lot of podcasts! Health, business and chiropractic related. I also feel fortunate to work in a field where there is ALWAYS something to learn - I love attending seminars and workshops to further advance my trainings and degrees.

What advice would you give your past self just starting your business or to a woman wishing to start her own entrepreneurial journey?

Don't let analysis paralysis keep you from starting (I was guilty of this for 5 plus years). You will never be 100% ready or prepared for all the obstacles entrepreneurship brings. You learn as you go, and my favorite thing is, we have a lifetime to allow it (and us) to evolve and grow.

What practices and rituals do you have that helps you create harmony/balance in your life & business?

To me, this is the hardest part as a mom and business owner. I'm still trying to figure it out, but GRACE is the name of the game. We have a very masculine-energy driven society where value is measured by productivity. It's very easy to feel like you're not doing enough, especially as a business owner. But the reality is some weeks I'm able to give more of myself to my business, and some weeks I'm not. I have to remind myself quite often that if the most "productive" thing I've done today is be fully present with my daughter, that is success. And when it's nap time or I have people helping me care for her, I turn on "get shit done" mode!

What would you like our Beauty Boost members to know?

Don't be afraid to ask for help--It's a super power, not a weakness. I would not be able to do what I do without the help I receive from my family, friends, "baby cuddlers" and colleagues. We're not meant to do it alone, which is why the TBB community is so amazing!
