Tell us about you!
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY to Dominican parents. I am the youngest of 6. I lived in Michigan during undergrad and moved to Miami. I now live in Pembroke Pines with my husband and daughter. When I have time, I enjoy reading books and being outdoors.
Tell us about your business!
Jae Physical Therapy is located in Davie. It’s my opportunity to treat the patients I want to serve, often the people who are neglected by the system and feel unprepared and unsupported. My practice focuses on treating pelvic floor issues like pain, incontinence, or prolapse, with holistic care. As a board certified orthopedic physical therapy specialist, I use a full-body approach that provides tools for patients to take control of their symptoms.
What type of impact do you hope to have on those you meet/speak to?
As a pelvic floor physical therapist, my passion lies in preparing women for pregnancy and delivery. This is a time to prepare for what is to come in order to maximize outcomes and have a happy and healthy postpartum recovery. This care sets women up for future pregnancies a promotes continued enjoyment and confidence through the phases of womenhood and spills into your relationships and career. This is not just treatment, this is education that sets up women for the rest of their lives.
What advice would you give to yourself from 5 years ago?
If I could speak to myself 5 years ago, I would just encourage her that she is on the right path and to continue to listen to her heart. So often we are second-guessing ourselves, as business owners, as women, as patients, and as moms. We are our own best advocates and should continue to listen to what we want and what we think.
What does BEAUTY mean to you?
For me beauty isn’t just what we see; it is what we feel, what we smell, what we hear, etc. Beauty is how a dress makes us feel, beauty is a song that we hear that makes us uninhibited to move as we see fit, and beauty is the smile brought to your face by smelling a delicious meal. Beauty is confidence in your own skin.
What do you love most about owning your own business?
The best part of owning my own business is the flexibility it allows for me to do as I see fit for my family. I can set my goals and my schedule around all aspects of my life, including my family. Flexibility when you have a family is priceless and allows for liberties that a regular clinical position does not.
Besides that, I am able to treat my patients without arbitrary limitations set by other entities. I can treat my patients the way they deserve, without the red tape, and help them reach goals they didn’t even think they wanted. My treatment includes a focus on improving overall health and wellness routine in order to create a positive and regular relationship with physical activity that will improve lives.
Who or what inspires you?
My inspiration is all of the women who have come before us and did not get the care they would have benefited from. I think about how some of the things I treat can influence someone’s career, confidence, relationships, family planning, hobbies, love, and happiness, just to name a few. Too often, these symptoms are swept under the rug by women because this is what the medical community has done, but not anymore, and not with me.
What would you like our Beauty Boost members to know?
I would like all Beauty Boost members to know that if you’re having back/pelvic pain, fertility issues, pain with intercourse, painful orgasms, etc, there is more holistic care available. You may have to be persistent with your medical team, but remember to listen to your gut.
If you are fearful of pregnancy, labor, or delivery, there is education to decrease your fear, make you empowered and actually practice and prepare for delivery. Follow me or join my email list to get updates on my Push Prep in-person course.
