From the Ground Up: Meet Maritza Berger, Founder of Maritza Marie
Some brands are built overnight. Others are built intentionally, over years of growth, grit, and self-discovery.
More than a luxury high-heel brand, Maritza Marie is a reflection of a woman who has spent her life learning how to show up confidently, creatively, and unapologetically— in the corporate world, and now, in entrepreneurship.
Where It All Began: Confidence on Stage & Creativity at Home
Long before Maritza ever imagined owning a company, she was already learning how to step into her power.
Growing up as a dancer, Maritza spent her childhood on stage—performing, expressing herself, and finding her place in the world. At home, creativity was woven into everyday life. Both of her grandmothers taught her how to sew and create, while her great aunt—still confidently rocking heels and designer outfits well into her mid-eighties—proved that style is timeless and deeply personal.
Her family didn’t have everything, but they had ingenuity. Whether her outfits came from Walmart or elsewhere, Maritza always chose pieces that felt unique. People noticed. They asked questions. And most importantly—those pieces gave her confidence.
That feeling?
She knew early on she wanted to give it to other women, too.
Intentional Design: Where Fashion Meets Meaning
That desire to create confidence through style evolved into a deep love for intentional design.
To Maritza, every detail matters. Every choice has meaning. Intentionality creates desire, connection, and confidence—and that philosophy lives in every Maritza Marie design.
She went on to study Apparel Design and Technology at Florida State University, later shifting her major to Business with a focus on Marketing. Rather than leaving fashion behind, she learned how creativity and strategy could coexist—an approach that would later become foundational to her brand.
Corporate Lessons, Creative Pulls & Big Vision Energy
After graduation, Maritza spent 15 years in corporate sales and leadership, working with both startups and Fortune 500 companies. She saw firsthand why some businesses scale, and why others fail. Most recently, her work in tech and robotics gave her exposure to what’s next before the rest of the world even sees it.
At the same time, she helped her best friend build a fashion brand—casting runway models, producing shows in Atlanta and NYC, and even working behind the scenes at New York Fashion Week.
And still… the pull to build something of her own never went away.
The Pause That Changed Everything
In 2020, Maritza officially formed Maritza Marie LLC—and just months later, the world stopped.
The pandemic hit. Heels were no longer a priority. She was furloughed from the very job funding her dream. Everything she had planned came to a sudden halt.
But instead of giving up, Maritza did something powerful:
She paused, reassessed, and turned inward.
She realized that to build the billion-dollar company she envisioned, she first had to build herself—prioritizing her health, mindset, and self-awareness. She learned that alignment starts within, and without truly knowing yourself, it’s hard to build anything sustainable—whether it’s a business, a team, or a life.
Building the Brand—The Right Way
By 2023, Maritza was ready.
She partnered with a manufacturer in Portugal, drawn to Europe’s craftsmanship, attention to detail, and trusted partnerships. Over three years, she refined prototypes and samples, ensuring every design met her standards.
Now, after a long and deliberate journey, her first collection is finally ready to launch—and every challenge along the way was worth it.
Reimagining Heels: Confidence You Can Feel
Maritza knows heels. She’s lived in them—especially in corporate spaces where comfort and beauty rarely coexist. She knows the pain, the calluses, and the stories.
That’s why Maritza Marie exists.
Her mission isn’t just to design beautiful heels—it’s to reimagine their structure so women feel supported, confident, and powerful.
Because heels aren’t just shoes.

What She Loves Most About Being a Business Owner
For Maritza, entrepreneurship means freedom—the freedom to fully express her creativity and design a life aligned with her vision.

Maritza draws inspiration from travel, experiences, and people—believing that exposure to new perspectives expands creativity and joy.
Her favorite quote, from Martin Luther King Jr., says it best:
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter.”
To her, beauty means shining from the inside out—honoring who you truly are, not just following trends.
And the advice she’d give her past self?
Absorb it all. Lean into joy. Don’t do it alone. Community matters just as much as the brand.
