HER STORY ⟡ Natalie: Wildrise Pizza
Today, we are meeting Natalie of Wildrise Pizza!
I’m Natalie and I’m an Idaho native living with my husband and 4 kids in Boise.
I’ve always loved food and cooking and accidentally became a food blogger in 2008. Sharing nourishing recipes on Perry’s Plate and helping people feel more confident in the kitchen has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Food blogging opened a lot of doors for me including working for Ree Drummond (The Pioneer Woman) for 10 years, writing two of my own cookbooks, and developing a lot of skills I wouldn’t otherwise have.
Why I started:
After blogging for so long, I felt some serious burnout and needed a change. I decided to take the things I love about blogging and switch gears into another food-related field.
I had been using sourdough for about 6 years, became obsessed with sourdough pizza, and loved the idea of offering a from-scratch pizza making experience with high quality ingredients. After months of research and recipe testing, I opened Wild Rise Pizza Co in July of 2025. I’m still doing all the things I love, but with the side bonus of making sourdough pizza my new personality.
Wild Rise has been such a blast, and two of my daughters have jumped into help me. I love the new direction my work has taken me.
What type of impact do you hope to have on those you meet and/or purchase your products?
I’m hoping that those who use my dough or kits feel more confident and enjoy spending family time in the kitchen. I hope that those who are afraid to chase after what they want see this crazy sourdough-loving lady with her pizza madness and feel like they can put themselves out there, too.
What I love about being a business owner:
Ownership. Knowing that all of it mine — the ideas, the execution, the aesthetics, the success. It’s seeing my ideas turn into something tangible. But all the hard things are mine, too — the failed attempts, the financial risks, the hours and hours and hours of doing dishes. Having a start up both invigorating and terrifying at the same time. I love it.
Who or what inspires you:
Fearless women who break glass ceilings and work hard for what they want. What is my favorite piece of advice: What other people think of you is none of your business.
What does BEAUTY mean to you?
Things that are beautiful to me are things that speak to me on a soul level and things that make me happy.
What advice would you give your past self just starting your business?
Don’t worry about the fact that literally no one else is doing what you’re about to do. Just because it hasn’t been done before doesn’t mean it can’t.
What would you like our Beauty Boost members to know?
