How to Turn Your Journal Into a Life Coach!
Hey Gal! Happy Monday!
Today's email comes to you from Lena on our HQ team!
I incorporated journaling into my daily routine a while ago, and I'm never going back.
When I first started, I wasn't using my journal to its full potential. Writing down feelings throughout the day, a few gratitudes and goals doesn't do much when you turn the page and never look back. Start journaling with your life instead of at it and everything will change.
1. If you want your journal to work like a life coach, here's a start:
Most journals start with “How am I feeling today?” or “What am I grateful for?” which is fine, but they don't always lead to growth. To coach yourself through your journal, ask questions that challenge your thinking or spark clarity. Next time, try:
“What am I avoiding and why?”
“What's one boundary I need to reinforce tomorrow?”
2. Think of this as your personal debrief. Pick one day a week to ask yourself:
What worked well this week?
What didn't?
What you want to take with you into the new week and what you want to leave behind?
This helps you zoom out and make intentional tweaks to your mindset and habits moving forward.
Your journal is a goldmine for personal reflection. Every so often, flip back and read through a few weeks to highlight recurring themes. Notice any situations, places or people that trigger stress or mood dips. See if you're setting the same goals but not following through. Once you notice the patterns, you can start rewriting them.
3. This one can be tricky. Sometimes we write goals that sound good but don't feel good. Try comparing your goals with your actions and emotions. Ask yourself:
Am I chasing this because it's expected or because it's aligned?
Do I light up when I write about it, or does it feel draining?
Real alignment begins when you see the difference between your authentic goals and the ones you think you should want.
Journaling only requires one thing: intention. It's not a junk drawer, it's an honest conversation with yourself. When you set it up like a coach, your thoughts and goals start making a lot more sense for your life.
So, pick up the pen, grab a prompt and think about how you can make the most out of today's entry.
