HER STORY ⟡ Alexandria Sapia

Today, we are meeting Alexandria Sapia, LICSWMental Health Therapist • Content Creator!

About me!

Hi, I’m Alexandria — a 29 year old licensed mental health therapist who’s also just a girl passionate about making mental health conversations feel more approachable, relatable, and empowering.

My passion for understanding people and building meaningful connections inspired me to pursue my education, earning my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (2019) with a focus on mental health and my Master’s degree in Social Work (2023).

Outside of the therapy room, I love creating content that blends mental health, self-care, lifestyle, and the everyday moments that make us human. My goal is to remind people that healing doesn’t have to look perfect — it can be found in small steps. Also, that I’m a therapist with a therapist!

Through my platform, Therapy & Yap, I share the message that true confidence and beauty come from — caring for your mind, nurturing your relationships, and building a life where you feel authentically yourself.

Why I started:

I became a therapist because I’ve always loved connecting with people, hearing their stories, and creating meaningful relationships. I’ve always been the person who enjoys deep conversations, making others feel comfortable, and reminding people that they don’t have to go through life’s challenges alone.

What makes this work so special to me is being able to sit with someone, truly listen, and walk alongside them through their healing journey. Creating a safe space where people feel seen, supported, and understood while helping them recognize their own strength is incredibly rewarding. I love being part of all those moments.

What inspires me:

What inspires me most as a mental health therapist is witnessing people realize they're capable of so much more than they once believed. Watching someone go from simply surviving to truly living, setting boundaries, finding confidence, and rediscovering themselves is what fuels the work I do every day.

I'm also inspired by the conversations that often go unspoken. Mental health shouldn't feel intimidating or inaccessible, which is why I love creating content that makes mental health relatable, approachable, and even a little fun. Whether I'm sharing psycho education, self-care, or everyday "just a girl" moments, my goal is to remind people that as a therapist I’m also human.

What does beauty mean to you?

To me, beauty is so much more than what you see in the mirror. True beauty starts from the inside out. It's the confidence that comes from healing, the kindness you show yourself and others, the resilience you build through life's challenges, and the joy you carry when you feel at peace with who you are.

As a mental health therapist, I'm passionate about helping people glow from the inside out because when your mind and heart are cared for, it naturally reflects in the way you show up in the world. Skincare, makeup, and self-care are beautiful ways to express yourself, but the most radiant glow comes from self-worth, self-compassion, and feeling like your authentic self. 💕

What piece of advice would I tell my younger self?

I would tell my younger self to trust the process, stop rushing to have everything figured out, and give herself more grace. The things that feel like setbacks are actually shaping her into who she’s meant to become. Keep choosing yourself, protect your peace, and never forget that your worth was never something you had to earn!
