HER STORY ⟡ Brittany Landefeld

Hey, I am Brittany Landefeld, owner of Powerhaus Pilates here in Central Ohio. I moved to the Columbus area ten years ago with my husband, and since then we have built a life here and welcomed two wonderful children.

I took my first reformer class in 2008 while living in Huntington Beach and knew right away that Pilates offered something deeper than anything I had tried before. It carried me through the challenges of finishing college during a financial crisis and the demanding years of working as a restaurant GM. Pilates later helped me rebuild my sense of strength and steadiness after a robbery, and that experience still shapes the way I teach.  In 2015, I decided to pursue formal training and completed my BASI certification in Newport Beach and have been teaching since 2016.

As a small studio owner, my intention is to help people understand their bodies and move with confidence and clarity. Pilates has grounded me through every season of life, and I am grateful to share a practice that supports real strength and real presence. You get one body, and you deserve to feel powerful in it.

Why I started:

I created Powerhaus Pilates as a space designed for women who are tired of quick fixes, chaotic workouts, and the constant pressure to “do more.” A place to slow down and reconnect.  In a world that moves fast and demands even faster results, I wanted to offer the opposite: a studio where you can breathe, focus, and move with purpose. A space away from the noise where you can tune into your body, build real strength, and see progress that carries into your everyday life.

What I love about being a business owner:

What I love most about being a business owner is the freedom it gives me,  both in my work and in my life. I’m able to design a schedule that lets me grow a business I’m proud of while still being present for the little moments with my kids that I never want to miss. I get to offer clients thoughtful, personalized support that helps them move better, feel stronger, and build confidence that carries into their everyday lives. Building Powerhaus has allowed me to create meaningful connections and still show up fully for my family. It’s a balance I’m incredibly grateful for.

What type of impact do I hope to have on those I meet and /or who purchase your products?

I hope to make an impact that goes far beyond a single session or purchase. Whether someone steps into the studio or interacts with Powerhaus in any way, I want them to feel seen, supported, and capable. My goal is to help women build strength and confidence that carries into their everyday lives. If someone leaves feeling more grounded, aligned, and connected to themselves, then I’ve done what I set out to do.

Who or what inspires you?

I draw inspiration from so many places, but movement is always at the center of it. Watching bodies in motion, understanding how they work, and seeing the art in the mechanics is incredibly powerful to me. I learn a lot from movement practitioners and from the science behind why the body responds the way it does. I am also inspired by my husband and the way he shows up with full commitment to anything he decides to pursue. And, of course, the women in my family and the clients I work with each day continue to inspire me. Seeing the impact they create in their own lives and in the lives of others reminds me why my work matters.

What is your favorite piece of advice you've ever received or favorite quote?

There is this French culinary term, mise in place meaning “Everything in its place.”  A kitchen that is set up before the work begins so that when the moment comes, nothing is scrambling.

That is how I run my studio and how I try to run my life. Preparation, intention, and focus with a little grace for when I fall short of that.

What does BEAUTY mean to you?

Beauty isn’t perfection or aesthetics; it’s presence. It’s the way you carry yourself, the energy you bring into a room, and the compassion you show yourself as you grow. When a woman feels grounded and powerful from the inside out, that’s beauty in its truest form.

What advice would you give your past self just starting your business?

I would tell my past self to trust the process a little more. Everything has a way of working out, even when the timing feels slow or uncertain. Be patient, stay clear on your vision, and give yourself the mental space to grow into it. The clarity comes, the clients come, and the momentum builds when it is meant to.

What would you like our Beauty Boost members to know?

I want Beauty Boost members to know they already carry so much strength and power within themselves. You deserve spaces that support you, challenge you, and remind you of what you are capable of. I am truly grateful to be part of your tribe at TBB, and if you take anything away, let it be this: you are strong, you are worthy, and you deserve to take up space.

And if you are ready to add Powerhaus Pilates as another third space, use TBB at checkout to get an additional free class with your new client package.
