From Chronic Illness to Creative Calm: The Healing Story Behind Dharps Creations
Dharps Creations began during one of the most challenging chapters of my life.
After being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, I needed a way to cope—to find peace, purpose, and something that could help take my mind off a chronic illness I would live with forever. Art has always been that place of calm for me. I used to paint landscapes, and creating brought me a deep sense of peace. But this time, I wanted to try something new—something meaningful not just to me, but to others as well.
In 2017, while living in Connecticut, I discovered resin art. I bought my first gallon of resin and began experimenting, creating beachscapes inspired by the ocean just 15 minutes from my apartment. I wondered: What if art could come alive in a useful way?
That curiosity led me to create coasters and cutting boards—functional pieces infused with creativity and intention.
Life continued to unfold alongside my art. I got married in 2018 and moved to Ohio with my husband. My art supplies sat quietly for a while, tucked away in our apartment, until one day we stumbled upon the Westchester Farmers Market. My husband encouraged me to take a leap, investing in my first tent and table and urging me to try selling my work.
Those early pieces weren’t perfect—but the response was powerful. People connected with my art, and for the first time, I felt a deep confidence that I could grow, improve, and truly share something special with others.
That moment marked the true beginning of my journey.
I began creating and selling unique beachscapes and floral pieces, gradually moving into larger designs and custom orders. Over time, my work evolved into deeply personal creations—memorial pieces made from wedding flowers, funeral flowers, and blooms from life’s most meaningful moments.
Fast forward to 2025, and a new chapter began: flower jewelry.
Preserving flowers in delicate, wearable designs brought a renewed sense of joy and creativity into my life. Each piece is carefully crafted, personalized, and filled with meaning—tiny reminders of love, memory, and beauty meant to be carried with you every day.
