HER STORY ⟡ Emily Hensley
Today, we are meeting Emily Hensley, Owner + Lead Stylist of Glam & Go Hair and Makeup!
Hi, I’m Emily — owner and lead stylist of Glam & Go Hair and Makeup. I’m originally from Kentucky, and helping people feel beautiful and confident has always been part of who I am.
Before opening Glam & Go, I worked in healthcare as a Certified Nursing Assistant, where I learned the importance of caring for people, staying calm under pressure, and creating comfort during meaningful moments in life. Those experiences shaped so much of who I am today, both personally and professionally.
I started Glam & Go Hair and Makeup because I wanted beauty to feel personal, empowering, and supportive — not just another service. To me, beauty is about confidence, authenticity, and helping people feel like the best version of themselves. I truly believe beauty should enhance who you already are, not change you.
Today, Glam & Go has grown into a luxury on-site beauty company specializing in soft glam makeup, timeless hairstyling, and elevated bridal experiences throughout Kentucky and beyond. But beyond the artistry itself, what matters most to me is how people feel when they leave my chair — confident, celebrated, and cared for.
One of the things I love most about being a business owner is creating meaningful connections while doing something I’m passionate about. I love helping women feel beautiful during some of the biggest moments of their lives, and I hope the impact of my business goes far beyond hair and makeup. I want women to feel empowered, supported, and reminded of their worth.
I’m inspired most by strong women — especially mothers and women who continue to work hard, lead with kindness, and do the right thing even when life gets difficult. As a mother and entrepreneur myself, I understand the sacrifices, resilience, and determination it takes to build something meaningful while balancing everyday life.
One of my favorite pieces of advice is that everything happens for a reason. Life doesn’t always go exactly as planned, but I believe even the difficult moments shape us into who we’re meant to become. That mindset has taught me to trust the process, continue growing, and never stop moving forward.
If I could give advice to my younger self when first starting my business, it would definitely be to find a really good accountant early on. As creatives, we often focus on the passion and artistry behind what we do, but learning the business side is just as important.
Most importantly, I want other women, entrepreneurs, and beauty professionals to know that life is too short not to follow your dreams. Chase what makes you happy, take chances on yourself, and don’t be afraid to create a life that feels fulfilling and authentic to you.
Building Glam & Go Hair and Makeup has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, and I’m incredibly grateful to continue growing a business rooted in confidence, beauty, connection, and empowerment.
