One Small Decision Changed Everything..How TBB Started

Hey Gal! Happy Monday.

A question I get all the time is:

"How did The Beauty Boost start?"

The answer is actually pretty simple. I felt discontent in my life. Nothing was wrong. But also nothing really felt right. I felt like I was just “going through the motions” of life and I also felt guilty for feeling unsettled because I felt like I should feel grateful for all that I had. I was grateful AND there was a restlessness in me. Making friends as an adult felt harder than anyone warned me it would be. Meeting people outside of work felt nearly impossible. And creating meaningful connections wasn't something that just magically happened anymore.

I KNEW I had to make a change but I didn't know how. At the same time, I kept hearing testimonials from women around me that they were feeling the same.

So I took steps without knowing what would happen and what I was doing. I worked with a life coach to ask myself questions and get more clear. I got my 500YTT (yoga teacher training) and started teaching a ton of weekly classes. I took a 6 week course called B School through Marie Forleo.

THEN I hosted a weekend retreat in Hocking Hills. And THEN I hosted events in Columbus, Ohio. And women kept coming back. And I just stayed consistent. I worked a full time (in office job) for the first three years until I stepped away. And it was DEEPLY UNCOMFORTABLE. But I knew I had to make this choice to move forward.

And then emails started coming in asking if TBB was in “my city?" And I thought…why don't I expand this? I have seen the impact it's had on women here. So I launched in Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Columbus with the help of a friend and some local women in those cities. And then we played around with the model of TBB until it is what it is today.

So if you've been waiting to feel ready, waiting until life slows down, or waiting for someone else to make the first move—consider this your reminder. Just go for it. Ask yourself what is the worst that can happen.

The biggest things that helped me were: Quality group of women around me. My mom. Listening to endless motivational podcasts and absorbing as much as I could. Working with a quality coach. Time blocking.

That one small step may completely change your life.
