More Than a Clinic: Creating a Space Where Women’s Voices are Actually Heard

Tell us about you and your background:
I grew up in a small, conservative town in Northern Indiana— where homeschooling was common and my family was no exception. I’ve always had a passion for learning, which I attribute on some level to how much I enjoyed that experience. I knew from a young age that I wanted to make a difference in the world, and as a result, knew in my soul that my work would call me elsewhere (hence, for now, Cincinnati!)

My career and educational background is in nutrition and health coaching, where I’ve worked in a range of spaces from integrative practices to healthcare tech startups, serving people in many areas including professional athletes, chronic pain warriors, and fertility.

Tell us about your business and why you started it:

I had a dream to start a clinic where I could leverage health coaching to support women with finding their best self through balancing their hormones — at the time, I envisioned that this practice would support women of all ages— and yet life has its neat way of showing us what’s aligned.

When my business partner Tim (at the time, he was a longtime friend and previous boss from a coffee shop I’d worked at in my teens) reached out to me to pick my brain about some ideas for a clinic he wanted to start for perimenopause, my bells were ringing. I have always been passionate about serving the underserved, and this concept melded two of my dreams together beautifully. About a week later he asked me to be his business partner — the rest is history!

What do you love about being a business owner?

I love the opportunity I have as a business owner to create not only an incredible clinic that focuses on believing women and helping them reclaim their lives from the detrimental impacts of perimenopause, but beyond that: I love that I get to foster a collaborative work environment where every person feels that their voice is heard and has an impact.

I’ve worked in a variety of healthcare spaces and I’ve observed the pitfalls of each work environment. I am blessed and honored to be in a position of leadership where I am able to change that landscape, and I truly believe I’m building a work environment where my team is positioned to thrive— finding a career that ignites passion rather than burnout.

What advice would you give yourself from 5 years ago OR your past self just starting your business?

Whoo. What a question! I was in a very different place 5 years ago, and I am eternally grateful for the growth I’ve had on this journey. If I could speak to that version of me, I would tell her not to feel discouraged, and that she is worth more than her current circumstances — I would tell her to lean into her intuition and trust the process. Nothing brings your dreams to fruition quicker than being in true alignment.

What does BEAUTY mean to you? 

I think beauty is a mindset— perhaps an energy as well. I’ve worked vigorously to rewire old limiting beliefs, finding solace in the process of being grateful for every little thing that brings beauty into my life. It could be the feeling of sunshine on my face during a hike, the warmth of my first sip of coffee in the morning, or laughter in a shared moment with loved ones or colleagues. Beauty is everywhere in this life if we are present enough to observe it.

Who or what inspires you?

Inspiration comes to me in many ways — I am a nerd for topics like energy, astrology, and our connection to the universe itself. I find a lot of passion and inspiration through esoteric wisdom, but also through the people I surround myself. Perspective is a significant aspect of that, and I am blessed to have a community with a wide variety of perspectives.

What would you like our Beauty Boost members to know? 

I know it sounds cliche, but follow your dreams. Learn yourself and learn what you are truly passionate about. Paulo Coehlo said it best in the Alchemist: “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it.”
