Today, we are meeting Zayra Carbajal of Mindful Balance Journal!
I found in meditation a partner to heal, to connect with my inner peace, and to enjoy life even through our normal day-to-day challenges. Breathing and being aware of here and now help me stop surviving mode and enjoy each moment as it comes.
Tell us about you
I am Zayra Carbajal, a woman in her mid-forties, dreaming of becoming more than a mom, a daughter, a friend, or a project manager. Life’s challenges have made me question my self-concept and shaken my self-esteem, leading me through different forms of therapy to rebuild my sense of self. Through practicing mindfulness, I’ve developed the ability to become aware of who I am—how my body reacts, what I say to myself, and what I feel deep in my heart—without judging those emotions, thoughts, or physical sensations.
Tell us about your business
The Mindful Balance Journal was born from my desire to share what has been transforming my life. More than just a journal, it becomes your companion on your meditation and self-development journey.
The Mindful Balance Journal is designed to guide you through intentional meditation practices, starting with simple 3-minute sessions and gradually expanding to 20-minute practices. It also includes sections to track self-care activities, along with Mindful Balance Bits—gentle reminders to help you stay present in everyday moments, whether you’re brushing your teeth, walking, eating, or simply listening to a conversation.
Who inspires me
One of my greatest inspirations comes from Thích Nhất Hạnh. He taught that through mindful breathing, gentle awareness, and the acceptance of both joy and suffering, we return to ourselves.
I believe that during any storm, each breath has the power to calm our body and guide us back to balance. These mindful balanced moments bring our body and mind into alignment; the breath becomes our bridge between chaos and calm.
By being present and embracing our emotions, rather than fighting or suppressing them, we begin to ease our suffering. The more self-compassion we cultivate within ourselves, the more naturally we extend compassion to others.
What does BEAUTY mean to you?
Beauty, to me, is balance—the harmony between our inner and outer qualities. It is not about perfection, but about accepting our light and our shadows, always striving to grow. Beauty reveals itself when harmony arises from the acceptance of our authentic selves.
