HER STORY ⟡ Allyson Rodgers
Hi there!
My name is Allyson (you can also call me Ally). I’m a Board-Certified Music Therapist, keynote speaker, and the owner of Music & Miracles, a private music therapy practice in Brentwood, Tennessee. For the past 10 years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting children, teens, adults, and families across of variety of settings including schools, hospitals, behavioral health programs, and non-profit organizations, all through the power of music.
I grew up in Dallas, Texas, and in 2020 my husband, Brian, our cat Salem, and I made Nashville home. I truly love it here. There’s a special kind of energy in this city, always something new to explore. And as a musician, being surrounded by such inspiring talent and music history still leaves me in awe.
Why I started:
Music therapy found me at the intersection of two lifelong loves: medicine and creativity. I actually began college as a pre-med/biology major, but I quickly realized something was missing…music. Even before I could speak, I was singing and making up songs. Music has always been a part of who I am.
At the same time, I was deeply drawn to learning about the body and brain, and to connecting with people and hearing their stories. When I discovered music therapy, everything finally clicked. I changed paths, and I’ve never once looked back.
Starting Music & Miracles always felt like part of my story, even before I knew exactly how it would unfold. What I did know was that I wanted to build something of my own - something relational, warm, creative, and healing. Finding the courage to begin was its own journey, but it’s been one of the greatest joys of my life. Today, I’m honored to offer a music therapy practice that supports the whole person and meets people exactly where they are.
My Mission:
I believe our voice and body hold the keys to healing the parts of us that learned to stay small or silent. Music helps us access those deeper layers, offering a way to express, release, and reconnect with our most authentic selves.
I’ve made it my life’s mission to help people feel deeply connected to themselves, to others, and to who they truly are. I’m also deeply passionate about helping people rediscover joy through play.
At Music & Miracles, our mission is to create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space where individuals of all ages and abilities can explore their inner resources and potential through creative expression. We value collaboration, empowerment, and authenticity, ensuring each session is client-centered and designed to nurture your wellbeing and personal journey.
How I Stay Inspired:
I make it a priority to stay connected to my own relationship with music, whether that’s performing outside of work, playing just for fun, taking lessons, going to shows, or simply dancing and singing around my house. Staying musically connected helps me feel grounded and aligned with who I am.
I’m also committed to staying curious. I love reading, taking classes (both for professional growth and pure enjoyment), meeting new people, and traveling. These experiences not only support my own self-care, but also expand my perspective and deepen what I bring into the therapy space.
What is Music Therapy?
Music therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music to accomplish individualized goals and is administered by a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC). In a music therapy session, clients and music therapists work together to address emotional, psychological, social, communication, cognitive, motor, and/or spiritual goals using a variety of musical interventions. No prior musical experience is necessary to participate in and benefit from music therapy. All ages and abilities are welcome!
